Afternoon Tea Social for the By a window exhibition
August 6, 1-3pm
Free – All welcome
Join curators and contributors for an afternoon of conversation while surrounded by archival material presented in the By a window exhibition.
A collaborative exhibition between Verge Gallery and the Australian Centre for Photography, By a window features two milestone photographs by renowned artist Michael Riley. Part of the University of Sydney Union art collection, they are accompanied by rarely seen archival material from the University of Sydney Archives, Boomalli Gallery, The Tin Sheds, The Settlement Community Centre and the State Library of NSW, from the 19th Century to today.
We warmly welcome people who have been involved with any of the above organisations to bring any memories, documents, or personal histories to share, leave in the gallery and contribute to this participatory and open-ended exhibition.
This Afternoon Tea Social is an open invitation to share memories, build on the exhibition content in real time, and a unique opportunity for anyone to gain a rare insight into the significant organisations and movements represented in the exhibition and the history of the university and local surrounding areas.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this exhibition contains images, voices and names of people who have passed away.
