EP 06, MIGUEL GONZALEZ AND GABRIELA VILLALBA
In episode 6 we speak to Miguel Gonzales and Gabriela Villalba. A Venezuelan-Australian creative duo working across an array of disciplines from visual art to art direction, architecture, and advertising on adapting to new environments and forming part of a thriving creative community based in Brookvale, NSW.
Miguel Gonzalez (M-Lon) is an Australian born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1979. Architect, illustrator and self-taught in visual arts Miguel’s work is a mix of colors, shapes and it is usually hand to hand with a deep social undertone. Since his arrival in Australia in 2013 many indoor and outdoor walls already have his signature and his figurative yet conceptual style. His experience is also shown through commercial illustration, art for video-games, concept art for the TV industry and has been part of national and international collective and solo exhibitions. Currently he is working on animation projects, finding the way to generate motion through his illustration.
Miguel is one half of Kayapa Creative Studio and also one of the Co-founders of La
Crème Creative Inc. in Brookvale.
Gabriela Villalba is a Venezuelan-Australian living in Sydney NB since 2013. Publicist and art director with extensive experience in the advertising industry in Caracas. Gabby is dedicated to graphic design, videography and photography. Her camera has documented many artists especially from the cultural scene in the Northern Beaches. She is passionate about experiencing new results through toy cameras and is currently working with vintage lenses on digital cameras.
She has participated in group exhibitions in Caracas, Sydney and Newcastle. Co-founder
of Kayapa Creative Studio and Co-Founder of La Crème Creative Inc. in Brookvale.
