TEXT VERSION
This costume is a full shiny, silver-white sequined bodysuit that covers the performer from head to toe.
One arm is covered with a mottled brown and white patterned sleeve. This material is bunched up at certain points and has small round spirals, made in the same fabric, attached to it. The round spiral decorations stick out by approximately 3cm.
The performer walks on bucket stilts, which is a bucket turned upside-down with a piece of rope attached to the top of it. The performer uses the rope to lift the buckets up when walking.
Pieces of plush, coloured, tubular rope wind around the circumference of the buckets. One of the buckets is covered with a mottled brown and white tubular rope, and the other is wrapped with a shiny lime green rope. At certain points, pieces of tan straw or fluorescent orange string spout out of the buckets.
The same mottled brown and white tubular rope shown on one of the buckets has been twisted around into a circular spiral decoration, about 30cm in length, which sits upon one of the knees of the performer like a knee pad. This coiled rope is similar to the shape of a snail.
Across the body of the costume from the shoulder to waist, worn like a sash, is a bright orange rope which HOSSEI calls a ‘love knot.’ Also attached to the costume over the breast is a large plush silver-white starfish.
On the performer’s bottom and upper thigh is a large silver-white starfish, about 40cm in size. The body of the starfish is attached to the performer, with the arms of the starfish dangling loosely.
A crystal-like formation, iridescent in colour and somewhat see-through, covers the head in a peak and flares out and down until it reaches the waist of the performer. A variety of colours reflect off the crinkled headpiece as it moves around in different lights.
Attached to the head piece is a large, dark grey starfish, about 30cm in size, with two of its arms hanging off the bottom of the head piece.
The performer wears large goggles. The sides and front of the goggles are the same silver-white material as the bodysuit, and the lenses are large and completely black, resembling huge bug eyes.
HOSSEI describes this costume as being “an explorer, she finds and collects things, she loves shiny things, and the twins are her fun best friends kinda thing, ha ha!”
